Reading Vocabulary Building Program

Try our free reading materials below and you'll quickly see why teachers and parents say ReadingKey is the easiest and most effective program for rapidly improving student reading vocabulary and fluency (fluency is the process of reading words quickly - smoothly and easily).

ReadingKey is
very easy to use

We've organized everything for you to keep you and your student flowing along in perfect order from one level to the next.  Follow the four simple steps at the top of each of our free trial lists below in a "one-on-one" tutoring session and in 5 minutes you'll observe your student progressing at a rate faster than ever achieved previously (We Guarantee it !). This is possible because ReadingKey uses a series of very special learning techniques that are far more effective for "locking" words into a child's long-term memory.  Typical progress to expect from your student is one grade level improvement in 2-3 months if working 15-30 minutes for 3-4 days per week.  That's all it takes !

Is Vocabulary
and Fluency Enough?

The overall reading process is certainly more complex than just being able to say a written word.  For a student to achieve full understanding of a paragraph or story, the student must also be able to read the words fluently (that is - saying words easily and smoothly).  Two other very important and overlooked skills are - being able to properly pause at commas and periods (a serious and common problem in early readers) and also using proper voice inflection when coming to periods or question marks at the end of a sentence (The voice tone should go down at periods and up at question marks).  As you can see, there are several skills that need to come together in order for your child to reach their maximum reading comprehension.   Skills such as pausing for one second at periods and correct voice inflection at the end of sentences or questions can be quickly learned by the student if these skills are specifically taught.

Certainly, students need to know the meaning of each single word they are reading.  Most people don't realize, however, that library reading books for students in Grades 1 through Grade 3 are written using typical conversational words (about 2000 words total).  These are words children hear repeatedly in conversation throughout the day and already understand the meaning orally.   This is why we see such a dramatic and immediate improvement in grade level reading ability once a child can read these words correctly and fluently.

It is not until the second half of Grade 4 that students encounter the more difficult words not typically used in conversation, and therefore, require additional practice in activities related to word meaning and word usage.

Should comprehension worksheets be practiced so extensively in school classrooms?

Unfortunately, there are many school classrooms today  consuming valuable time by practicing sophisticated comprehension strategies before students can even read the words in the stories.  Since the first domino in the sequence of reading successfully is to master the vocabulary appropriate for that grade, we need to learn the grade level words first - and then initiate comprehension strategies. Practicing comprehension before adequate vocabulary is achieved is putting the "cart before the horse."  No matter how many comprehension strategies and worksheets are given to a child - if the student cannot read the words accurately and fluently, they will never be able to achieve full comprehension of the reading material.

Move up to the top of the next column for more details on the ReadingKey program.

Try this 5 minute challenge and  you'll see why the ReadingKey Vocabulary  Program is the fastest and easiest program for advancing any  child through grade level reading vocabulary  and improving reading fluency.  (Fluency is  the process of saying words smoothly and  easily - which in itself dramatically improves comprehension).

STEP 1:
Take the test below:
Have your student sit next to you at the computer and read the words below - beginning with the left column.  Words are arranged from "most-common" to "least-common" and have an approximate grade level above each column.  What we want to do here is to find the first column of words that your student answers either 3 or more words incorrectly or takes more than 3 seconds per word to say 3 or more words. (Hesitating on a word for even 2 seconds dramatically lowers reading comprehension.)

STEP 2:
Begin the ReadingKey techniques:

Once you've identified the list that 3 or more words are answered incorrectly or hesitated upon for more than 3 seconds, click on the button below the column which says - "Begin ReadingKey".  This will take you to the page for that particular list which details the special techniques that will allow your student to achieve rapid memorization of the vocabulary list words.  Print out the page and follow the simple learning Steps listed at the top of the page and you'll observe a speed of learning that will be dramatically quicker than what your student has ever achieved previously.  This rapid learning occurs because your child is progressing through a very special sequence of memorization techniques that follow the "rules" of how the brain most efficiently learns new information.  In other words, these special steps are what need to be done to efficiently transfer information from the short-term to the long-term memory (something ReadingKey does far better than any other reading program available).

STEP 3:
Proof that ReadingKey really does work better !

Within 5 minutes of using our special memorization techniques, you'll most likely observe a very quick learning of the reading list words, however, please do us one more favor so you can really see the power behind ReadingKey.  In 24 hours after you practice the ReadingKey techniques with your child, we want you to go back and test your child again on the same words studied on the previous day.  What you'll observe is what most people consider quite an impressive change.  For example, on the first day, if it took your student seven attempts to reach the 4 second goal for saying the 7 list words (4 seconds is our goal for mastery), on the 2nd day you'll observe that your student will reach the 4 second mark typically on the first or second attempt !!  By the third or fourth attempt your student will typically surpass the fastest time from the previous day !!   See what's happening here?  We're observing the results of "true" learning which in turn results in steady, accelerated progress.  This "delayed learning" observation has been noted in brain research science journals and can only occur when specific information is "rehearsed" for a short period of time (as done in our program).  In other words, ReadingKey is doing precisely what needs to be done in order to achieve efficient and permanent "learning" of the reading vocabulary words.   This is just one of the many reasons why ReadingKey is truly a researched-based reading program as recommended by the federal "No Child Left Behind" Act.  So please, give us a try... Simply scroll up to the reading lists above and test your child to determine his/her reading level.  After finding the list in which 3 or more words are said incorrectly (or finding a list in which 3 or more words require 3 or more seconds to say), click the link at the bottom of that list and then print out the ReadingKey practice sheet.  Follow the directions on the paper and watch yourself become a highly effective reading teacher in minutes !!  After you master this technique, feel free to download nine weeks of our Student Tutoring Program for any grade level free of charge (from the links below).  When your student progresses through 9 weeks of reading vocabulary words in 1-2 weeks, we'll be here waiting if you'd like to join us for only $24.95 (download access) and $49.95 (on CD-ROM).
